Tramkade

Origins
The Tramkade building we now know as the Mengfabriek, also a national monument (Rijksmonument), was built around 1909. Conveniently located by the water and the railway at the tip of the ’t Zand neighbourhood, this was the beginning of the former Bruyelle flour mill. In 1933 the factory was sold to the cooperative bakers' organisation Meneba, and fifteen years later the flour mill swapped places with the Koudijs animal feed factory from Rotterdam. Meanwhile, the factory was expanded considerably. Only from 1983 did it come into the hands of De Heus Voeders.
New life
The Tramkade is now a vibrant cultural hotspot where creativity and entrepreneurship come together. The old factory buildings house trendy cafés, art galleries, workspaces and pop-up shops. Events are held regularly, from live music to food festivals, adding to the lively atmosphere of the location. With its setting on the Dommel and its unique industrial look, the Tramkade continues to evolve and remains an inspiring place for residents and visitors alike.
