Toekomstkijkers

toekomstkijkers
What happens when you ask two celebrated artists to create an art project that connects the historic city centre with the new Stadsdelta? The municipality of Den Bosch put this question to Maarten Baas and Ted Noten, resulting in the inspiring and innovative art project “Toekomstkijkers” (Future Watchers).

This initiative, which highlights both the city's history and its future, invites residents and visitors to look at the city in a new way.

“Toekomstkijkers” consists of five fixed telescopes designed by Maarten Baas, alongside modern benches created by Ted Noten. Located on the waterfront by the Citadel, this unique artwork offers not only a visual connection but also a symbolic bridge between old and new, between the historic city centre and Den Bosch's new Stadsdelta.

The artwork also offers a glimpse of the future. The telescopes are trained on small artworks by young, promising Den Bosch makers, selected by Maarten Baas. In this way, Maarten and Ted literally look to the future – the new generation of artists – and put them in the spotlight.
